Dr. Alexandra Daghelian, ND
My journey into naturopathic medicine started long before I ever set foot in a clinic – back when I was a competitive dancer counting beats, steps, and calories (but not necessarily in that order). That’s where I first learned how nutrition, recovery, and overall health could make or break performance.
After earning my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion from the University of Guelph-Humber, I flirted briefly with the corporate world… until a conversation with my own naturopath made me realize: “Wait a second … this is exactly what I want to do.” I’ve always believed in treating the whole person, using nutrition, supplements, and lifestyle shifts not just to treat illness, but to prevent it.
Outside the clinic, you’ll usually find me doing yoga, running (while trying to make peace with not being instantly great at it), lifting weights, watching movies, or spending time with my family. And yes – one day, I will make my grand return to the dance floor.
In my practice, I help patients with a variety of concerns, but I have a soft spot for improving stress, sleep, skin health, digestion, and pain relief. My own experience with acne and hyperpigmentation gave me an insider’s understanding of the skin–hormone–nutrition connection. So yes, I can (and will) happily nerd out over your skincare routine and I might even throw in facial acupuncture to boost collagen and keep your skin glowing from the inside out.
Sleep is another passion of mine – partly because I love it, and partly because it’s the foundation of everything from mood to metabolism. I often combine targeted supplements, stress support, and lifestyle tweaks to help patients finally get that deep, restorative rest their bodies have been craving.
For patients who want to focus on aging, I also incorporate facial acupuncture to stimulate collagen production, improve muscle tone, and relax overactive muscles to enhance overall skin appearance.
When you book with me, expect a thorough first visit where we talk about your health goals, review your medical history, and, if needed, run baseline bloodwork. I’ll explain each marker in plain language (no medical jargon that sounds like a crossword puzzle), and together we’ll create a plan that’s practical, targeted, and sustainable – no overflowing supplement cabinet required.
Within the first couple of weeks, expect a short 15-minute follow-up to check in, go over any questions, and see how you’re responding to supplements. After that, follow-up frequency depends on your goals, how long we expect changes to take, and when we plan to reassess bloodwork.
One thing I’m proud of is that I’m intentional about what I recommend. It’s easy to go overboard with supplements and end up with a long list of products that aren’t practical to maintain. I often have patients bring in a bag of supplements they’ve collected over the years and feel overwhelmed by. I focus on choosing products that are foundational, targeted, and easy to stay consistent with. I also make sure each patient leaves with a supplement schedule they can easily follow, ensuring that they have all the tools to stay consistent and see results.
I want my patients to feel comfortable asking questions and fully understand the reasoning behind their treatment plan. Unfortunately people often feel rushed or dismissed when visiting their doctor, so I strive to create a different experience. I genuinely enjoy answering health-related questions, explaining how supplements work, and helping you understand how different body systems are connected. My goal is for you to feel confident in each recommendation and to understand the “why” behind it. If something isn’t working, we can adjust the plan so it feels more sustainable for you.
